Sara Gilbert and Company Get New Mommy Talk Show

The big news today seems to be that the cancellation of the soap opera, As The World Turns on CBS, is being replaced with an hour long talk show full of mothers. The yet to be named show will focus on entertainment and new stories from a mommy point of view, since all six women have experienced the joys of giving birth. I guess it’s supposed to be competing with The View? Who knows.

What everyone seems to be celebrating is the addition of Sara Gilbert to the cast. You may remember her as Darlene from the hit TV show Roseanne back in the day. More recently she’s been seen on The Big Bang Theory. Oh, and in case you didn’t know, Sara Gilbert is a lesbian. Yes, that’s right. A lesbian mom on a talk show. Gasp! I don’t know what the big deal is here. Ellen is a lesbian, and so is Rosie O’Donnell. So another lesbian on TV, so what?

Personally, I can’t wait to see this one. It’s got a good, well rounded balance of co-hosts. Including Julie Chen, Sharon “Ozzy” Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah “Scientology” Remini, and Marissa Jaret Winokur. If anything, people should be more concerned with a Scientologist on TV rather than a lesbian. Which makes me wonder, will they be sitting on couches?

Regardless, the show is making is headlines for the fact that a lesbian mom in the way of Sara Gilbert is getting a platform to talk about her experiences raising children. Will it be successful? Only time will tell, but I’m guessing it will be a hit, just for the fact that women love to hear other women talk about kids that aren’t theirs.

This could be either really good or really bad.

I think it has the potential to be better than The View. Honestly, I can't stand watching that show. I think the women on this talk show are far more interesting. I get a kick out of Sharon Osborne.
